February is the month that helps us focus on the love in our life. While it is true that we should do it all of the time and we don’t need a special day sometimes having that day helps remind us of what we do have 365 days of the year. But anything that makes us stop to appreciate the all of the great things in life that we are blessed with is a good thing.

Like many people I don’t like feeling like I’m being sold something, so the thought of selling something to someone else makes me uncomfortable. To all of the natural salespeople out there I applaud you, I know for many people that this skill is effortless. For me it’s anything but effortless so I’ve changed the focus from selling to serving.

I have always been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. When life get’s to busy i find myself not having enough time to read. With a busy job, building a photography studio and juggling what feels like a million things I have not been reading as much as I’d like. Last year I started back and was able to read a lot while traveling it made me realize how much I still love it.
So for this year I’m going to make sure I read more.

With the start of a new year, I love looking back on my successes and failures and plotting a new course. The exercise of goal setting is usually good for me and I actually enjoy it. This year has been different, with the loss of my mom, I have spent the end of 2018 just focused on the tasks at hand and holding on to my faith and moving through each day one day at a time.

Christmas is done and the holiday season will soon be over. This year has been difficult for me in so many ways but ending with losing my mom which was a huge blow in an already tough year. It’s easy to look back on the hard times but I’m not going to do it. They are all still there, the pain is still there but I don’t have anymore time or energy for the bad. I am wrapping up this year determined to stay focused on the good.

I love the Christmas and New Years holidays, they are one of my favorite times of the year. Maybe it’s because it’s my birthday, or perhaps it’s because it’s that time of the year when family get’s together and everyone tries to think of others. A time when it’s ok to indulge without feeling guilty I always look forward to the season.
This year was different,

Today is hard. You always know that this day is coming in the back of your mind and when someone is sick it starts to become a reality. Even after hearing the doctor say, I think we should stop treatment because it’s not working you know the day is coming but you’re praying for more time. Just over 3 weeks ago everything changed and you and God picked your own timetable just enough time for us to process, but no time to linger helplessly while everyone cared for you.

Life has been crazy, stressful and downright difficult. I’m holding on as tight as possible and trying hard to manage my emotions even if it feels like it’s overwhelming.
We’re a week into my birthday month and 18 days away and there’s so much going on that my plans for a month long celebration have all been put aside. That’s completely fine, I know many who are able to do it and I applaud them, for me since my birthday tends to get lost in the holidays, I haven’t really celebrated it much in quite a while. I’m always appreciative of starting a new year but it’s always been almost an afterthought in the midst of the holiday hustle and bustle.
I planned to celebrate more this year but life has gotten in the way and although I won’t be keeping those plans, I do plan to find some ways to treat myself well. What that will look like, I’m not quite sure and I’m not even sure it will happen before or by my birthday, but that doesn’t matter. Things have been hard but I’ve been doing the best that I can and reminding myself of that is important.
There are so many ways that I can treat myself, and so many things that I can do to take care of myself so I’m adding working on that to the list of many things that I’m going to do, even if it’s really hard when you know you can’t have what it is that you want most.
How do you treat yourself? What should I add to my list?

Mustard Seed Faith
On of my favorite bible verse’s is Matthew 17:20. It tells the story of when the disciples had trouble driving out a devil and they went to Jesus and he drove it out. When they questioned him about why they could not do it, he told them that their trouble came from having too little faith. He then goes on to say that they only need faith the size of a mustard seed and anything is possible. This verse has been a comfort to me so often when I’ve needed it.

I am blessed to be a part of an amazing family. Of course we have our quirks and issues, but in the end we have so much love for each other. When we need each other it is not a question that my family will be there. I know that it is truly a blessing and everyone doesn’t have that I’ve got the family that I am related to but I’m also fortunate enough to have the family that is in my life by choice and I am so thankful for each and every one of them.

Needing a mask for a masquerade themed event and waiting too late to order one, I was lucky to find Ursula’s Costumer Shop. I walked in and wasn’t sure I was going to find what I was looking for but after being directed to their masquerade mask selection, I was not disappointed.

I had the chance to make another trip to Sandals Barbados and enjoy both the Sandals Barbados and it’s neighbor the Sandals Royal Barbados resorts. If you’ve ever been to a Sandals resort, then you know it is an amazing experience, the resorts provide phenomenal service and everything from the rooms, to the restaurants, bars, pools, spa and other amenities deliver on their promise for luxury. If you haven’t had a chance to experience a Sandals vacation; I suggest you put a tip on the calendar now, you will not be disappointed. These Caribbean based all inclusive resorts are irresistible.
We stepped off of the bus and were offered drinks to enjoy while we waited to check in at the Club Lounge. You can book a Butler Service level room and you’ll have a team of butlers taking care of your every need.No butler for us but it was wonderful all the same.Ready to dine, you will have a hard time choosing, with 17 restaurants between the two resorts with cuisine from around the world you will have the chance to dine around. Can’t choose, just one restaurant don’t worry, you can move from restaurant to restaurant. There are a few that require reservations, but most don’t although you may want to make one for a peak time. Bars are located throughout the resort and the bartenders will start to remember your favorites. We had a great selection of drinks in our room so a bath on the balcony in the soaking tub with champagne, wine or beer is a terrific way to spend an evening.
The Red Lane Spa is the perfect way to treat yourself. An outdoor massage for two, a facial, or need to have your hair and makeup done for a special night, the spa will take care of you. I am in love with the products that gave me a true glow that lasted for days.
There is a selection of pools, big ones with activities, quiet out of the way ones, private ones for some rooms, and even a sky pool in the Sandals Royal Barbados resort. Of course it is the Caribbean so the ocean is there. Scuba, Snuba and many other water activities will keep you busy.
We stayed on resort this trip, but if you want to get out, Island Routes will give you so many options to explore and find adventures around the island. From snorkeling, cruises, shopping, golf to 4x4 tours you’ll see this beautiful island from different perspectives.

Can I Have All of the Digital Files?
It’s one of the most common questions I hear as a photographer. After all it’s a digital age, everyone has a camera and everyone is a photographer right so I just want a disk with all of the files.
Yes we definitely live in a digital age and yes everyone does usually have a camera at hand, one that just keeps getting better so yes everyone a photographer of some sort. When you take photos on your phone or with your camera, you will have the digital files so everyone is used to that.

I will admit it, although I am more of a city girl, I have a fascination with nature and am in love with the National Parks. Although I’ve been in California for quite a while and Yosemite has been on my list I hadn’t been there. Finally the opportunity for a quick trip came up. The drive from LA is about 6 hours and like so many of the National Parks, as you drive in there is no indication of what is to come. Every time I visit a new park it’s the same thing, driving and driving and wondering if it’s going to live up to the expectations and every time, the expectations are left in the dust and Yosemite is no exception.
