It’s one of the oldest cities in the US and steeped in history and a perfect place for a weekend getaway. We’re talking about Boston. Famous for clam chowder, the Red Sox and Celtics for sports fans and known for it’s iconic place in US History full of things to do, and places to see.
From our Charlestown Hotel getting around was a breeze. Traffic can be tricky so we opted for rail passes and felt like natives instead of tourists as we easily managed to get around the city to take in the sites. Of course as a photographer I found photo opportunities everywhere, although we were constantly on the go, I saw so many perfect photo opportunities
We stayed near the historic Charleston Navy Yard and had a chance to explore established in 1800 as one of the original 6 yards that supported the US Navy, touring the ships shows off the incredible workmanship at the time.
We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to eat at America’s oldest restaurant; The Union Oyster House. With excellent food and service we enjoyed our meal in the quaint restaurant nestled in the Colonial style building.
While we didn’t have time to take in a game America’s oldest ballpark was tempting. As we passed by we could hear the excitement and new that things were going well inside. We got the chance to take in some unexpected entertainment at the Boston Common.
We only got a chance to scratch the surface of what Boston has to offer but hopefully we’ll be able to return and continue to explore.
What is one of your favorite getaway spots?
