Look through Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook or any other social media feed and you’ll find amazingly beautiful images. There are crazy beautiful backgrounds and it’s easy to imagine how easy it is to create beautiful images with so much to work with. As any photographer will tell you, there’s usually a lot more to the story. Also, for all of the beautiful scenic backgrounds there’s just as many or if not more it’s all about making it work as Tim Gunn would say.
I decided to challenge myself to taking some photos in my own backyard. Since I live in a condo I don’t actually have a backyard so my immediate neighborhood had to make do. I used a variety of equipment from my DSLR to my iPhone and my goal was to see what I could find and what kind of art I could make. I do live within walking distance is the beach and I purposely excluded the beach from the challenge just to make it even harder but in the end I just confirmed that great photos are all around us. We just have to keep our eyes open and sometimes look twice.
I enjoyed this challenge so much I think I’ll have to spend more time on it.
