I will admit it I’ve always been intrigued by peacocks. Their bright bold colors have always drawn me in. So I was in luck, the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is the perfect place to spot these beautiful creatures. Blues, greens and purples, their colorful feathers have always been fascinating. I remember having a beautiful peacock feather as a child, it was one of my prized possessions. Introduced to the arboretum in the late 1800s they have thrived and freely roam the arboretum unfazed by all of the attention that they get.
Just a 45-mile drive away in Arcadia, California, the Arboretum is the perfect getaway from the city. It gives me the chance to see some adorable wildlife while not venturing too far away.
This is also a great location for outdoor photos for any posed photos your photographer will want to be sure that they get a permit but if you walk through the grounds most will find the permit fee to be very reasonable, it does go up if you need a golf cart or if you are having a commercial photography session.
Explore the park and you’ll find an endless number of opportunities to get those perfect photos.
With a variety of gardens and plant collections from around the world, there is definitely something for everyone. If you spend a lot of time in the city this is place to catch a peek at a variety of wildlife. I love the peafowl “ the official name for both male and female peacocks, as technically only the males are called peacocks while the females are peahens. An adorable bunny was snacking on the vegetation and was even to busy to hurry away when he spotted us. I love the natural beauty of flowers and am drawn to them, they bask in their beauty, never worried about anything else and of course they come in an amazing array of colors, and oh yes I do love color.
An easy getaway from the hustle and bustle of LA this was a chance to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.
How do you getaway?
