Just about a 4 hour drive from Los Angeles you can get to Sequoia and King’s Canyon National Parks and a visit there is a relaxing getaway.
These were the first two National Parks that I had ever visited, and they are definitely postcard ready and picture perfect. If it’s hiking you’re interested you will find your choice of trails. The sequoias will have you in awe. it reminds me of learning in elementary school how to tell the age of a tree, some of these beauties are estimated to be thousands of years old, you feel so tiny standing next to their majestic beauty. Walking through the trunks of a fallen tree makes you feel even smaller, spending time in their beauty is an amazing experience.
I’m definitely a city girl but got lucky when we happened upon a bear family crossing the road. You can barely see one of them in the photo below as they move surprisingly fast and I could barely get the camera up in time for a quick shot.
Summer is busy in our National Parks but crowds or not they are a sight to see. Every time I go into one I’m awestruck. Driving in you often don’t see anything special and I wondered what was all of the hype about, but once we arrive, it becomes clear and I’ve never been disappointed.
If camping is your thing, then you are certainly in the right spot. Tents, cabins, beautiful lodges (which I must admit are more my style) that let you surround yourself with this natural beauty and simply get away for even just a little while. You’ll find something that matches your style and taste.
When given the chance I pull the camera and capture a few images of true beauty, but when I look back on those images, they never quite convey how beautiful the scene was. It gives a glimpse but I highly recommend catching the real thing for yourself.
What is your favorite National Park?
Enjoy!
