The Ring. We all know what ring it is, it’s the engagement ring. It is a symbol of love and commitment. From simple to intricate, diamonds, gemstones, or just a band; classic or custom there is an engagement ring to fit everyone’s needs. While the average cost of engagement rings is just under $6,000 there is a ring for every taste and budget. For some no ring is necessary but if you are in the market your choices are endless.
To check in and see what they are seeing in today’s engagements I checked in with Ozel Fine Jewelry at their Marina del Rey location. Family owned with over 40 years of experience they know their jewelry and they know engagement rings. Ruth was kind enough to spend some time with me and share what she’s been seeing.
The classics are always a great choice. Round brilliant diamonds remain the most popular, but there are plenty of other choices. Princess or emerald cut stones are very popular and there are so many other cuts you can choose from like oval, pear, heart, asscher, cushion, or radiant cuts. The cut is only one of the 4 Cs of buying a diamond but it is one that is easily visible and speaks to the wearers personality and style.
Halo rings remain popular. They consist of a round gemstone surrounded by round pavé or micro pave stones, this setting is dazzling, making the center stone appear even larger.
Platinum is a popular metal for engagement rings. With a cool tone it compliments the sparkle well. More rare and pure than gold, platinum is considered the most precious of jewelry metals. White gold provides a similar look at a lower price point. Yellow gold is classic and can be the perfect choice. Rose gold is growing in popularity and may be the perfect fit for someone who wants something just a little different.
Diamond eternity bands bring something different to the scene. With smaller evenly spaced stones, the eternity brand is the perfect way to stand out. The stones can vary in size from ring to ring and while diamonds are always a popular choice, any favorite gemstone will stun.
Window-shopping is a great way to explore and learn about what’s out there. With so many choices picking the right ring can seem like a daunting task. Ruth sees many couples coming in when one party has already prepped her so she’s ready to inconspicuously take note of what’s liked. She’s a behind the scenes hero; helping to make that moment when the box is opened extra special.
Check out your local jewelry store or check out Ozel Fine Jewelry. You will certainly find something you like.
