Summer, one of my favorite times of the year. Long days, sunshine, spending time outside, hanging by the pool, lake or beach. One piece, two piece, bikini, beach towels, sunglasses and sunscreen; packing your bag and spending the day celebrating summer. Cookouts, grilling and BBQ have always been a key part of my summers. One favorite 4th of July treat was a Bi-Centennial swing set we got on a 4th of July.
When you’re young it’s a break from school, time to play and hang out and freedom. Morning till night is yours to enjoy. As you get older the joys of summer are something to look forward to. Maybe it’s when you plan that special vacation maybe it’s just weekends either way you know that there’s only so many days so no matter what you have to make the most of summer.
While every summer day is special there’s one that is always the peak, that’s the 4th of July. Getting together with family and friends is one of my favorite parts of the summer. Spending the day with a picnic or cookout and then the night comes and it’s the special treat of the day, the highlight, it’s the fireworks. I must admit it I have always loved fireworks. From scouting out and staking out the best locations to waiting and waiting for the start it’s always exciting. Something about the anticipation and expectation and then the buildup of the display all building to the grand finale which is always fast paced with the color and sound explosions coming faster and faster and then all is quiet and the sky goes black. The only thing left is to fight the crowds to get home and wait until the next time.
We’re blessed to have freedoms that so many have fought and sacrificed for and for that I am so thankful. As we continue to move forward to with freedoms and overcome bumps in the road I try to remain grateful for where we are and hopeful for where we will go, and I have no doubts that we will.
Happy 4th of July, Be Safe and Enjoy
